Driver of Speeding Dodge Charger to be Arrested for Vehicular Homicide

Arrest warrants charging vehicular homicide, driving on a suspended license, and four counts of aggravated assault by recklessness are being issued against the 21-year-old operator of a speeding Dodge Charger that traveled into the oncoming lanes of Murfreesboro Pike near Pin Hook Road and crashed head-on into a flatbed tow truck at 2:55 p.m. Monday.

The front seat passenger in the Charger, Joshua Jenkins, 28, of LaVergne, was fatally injured. He was not wearing a seatbelt.

The investigation shows that the Charger, being driven by Wisner Edouard of Nashville, was speeding southbound on Murfreesboro Pike and making multiple lane changes to pass slower traffic. The Charger entered the center turn lane, which was occupied by a Honda Civic waiting to turn left into a grocery store parking lot. The Charger sideswiped the Honda, traveled into the northbound lanes of Murfreesboro Pike, and crashed head-on into an Isuzu flatbed wrecker. The Charger then caught fire. Edouard was able to get out of the vehicle. Passersby pulled Jenkins and a rear seat passenger from the vehicle. Jenkins was rushed to Vanderbilt University Medical Center where he died. Injuries to other parties are not life-threatening.

Edouard will be arrested upon his discharge from the hospital.

Edouard was charged with reckless driving on November 16, 2021, for driving in excess of 104 mph in a 55 mph zone on I-440 near the Hillsboro Pike exit. He was ultimately convicted of speeding in that case.
